Cognitive musicology is a thriving new field of research that actively responds to the “cognitive revolution” in the humanities and the sciences. Incorporating methods from psychology, neurobiology and computational science, cognitive musicologists research music as an acoustical, psychological and cognitive phenomenon.
Many courses are offered through the interdisciplinary research Institute of Logic, Language and Computation of the University of Amsterdam. Courses provide an overview of cognitive and computational methods and techniques, exploring the question what cognitive science can say about music, and how the study of music can foster cognitive science.
Core module: An Introduction to Cognitive Musicology
